Hoss's History and Hopes

Ever since I was a young kid, I would watch in amazement my father and the rest of his band get together at our house and practice, No dear ole Dad would not let me play drums, when he wasn't looking dad's drummer Bob would show me a few things and I would listen carefully, later you would hear me somewhere in the house beating on the tables pots pans etc. Dad insisted that I learn piano, so off I would go to a friend of Dad's, Victor Cox, he was in a big orchestra somewhere I forget now, my teacher, we even had an upright piano in the dinning room, next to the bathroom, and day after day I was to practice dear sweet piano, When finished right back I would go beating on whatever .Dad then decided I needed to learn guitar, so in came a fella, Kenny Marco, Who was at that time a singer guitar player for Motherload, now here was a guy I thought had everything, mint condition 57chev bellair, girls all around, money and a hit song. He came every time he was close to our house and sit with me and show me even more, God bless his heart but my mind and heart where still on the drums.
As things progressed I managed to get together with some of my school buddies, and we would play at school dances and such. I knew then I was addicted to performing music, the feeling was intense, finally in my life people where looking up at me, and wanting to see us play .
So some years went by always wanting to play those damn drums. I found myself , looking through jail bars, and while I was an inmate, low and behold there was a music room, so you know where I spent most of my free time,( imagine that , doin time / havin free time, some kind of contradiction there.) yup playing stuff with the other inmates and putting on jam sessions for the other guys, they really enjoyed the blues, so we played what else. One day we where pleased to see down-child blues band come to play for us.They where, and still are great, while there most of the other inmates started to bang their feet chanting let Al play, so yup I got up and jammed some blues.
This increased my want play even more, about 2000 inmates and guards cheering me on WOW.
I served my time and got out and decided to go to church, seek out something different, what do ya think was in the church, yes sir music equipment all brand new, so I managed to get to some practices and, you got it jammin for Jesus.Thanks Mark, and Iisac.
Then i got messed up in the drugs, after a few years of cranking speed, or what ever else could fit in a needle, my brother met up with me and said twin valleys is the place to be, so I loaded up my bike, and I went to twin Valley, down the hwy. around the corner and up the lane, to drive up, pipes giving off there usual roar, stoped at a trailer called office, and asked where the hell is my brother. They helped me allot over the years helped me to recognize some of my inner most garbage and hangups. Now I went in to a huge dome, and what do ya think I saw, it was like I found the holly grail, yup a set of drums all pieced together and mismatched, and a young blonde dude just a wailing out tunes that I recognized. He even said now its your turn and I got up and made no sense what so ever, and then Scott took me aside and began to show me some stuff I needed to learn. Well as things went on a fella who was cutting hair at twin valleys school, was also a well accomplished piano player, Gary took the time to show me how to read music and count it, this would prove invaluable in years to come. then in walks this little guy. who could play piano, guitar, just about anything, he and I started to play and practice and often times put on performances in front of all the people at tvs, Ben and I formed a music relationship that still has a Strong bond today thanks Scott, Gary, Ben.
I moved away from TVS and into London ON., and started playing with allot of folks and bands, worked my way up the ladder sort of speak, I went to a country bar and met a fella called Billy Joe Butterfield, we got to know each other and he took me under his wing, as he would call it, and many times we would set up two sets of drums, to play with a band, that was really different. Along came a guy who would take me on an adventure in music I would never forget. Tom Destry, with Silver Star International, and another fella, Rick Smith, a well accomplished, local singer player, and together, we became THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE UGLY , and we travelled all over, doing shows at county fairs, arena's, and bars, We ran a place called Trails End, a place where all could come and listen to really good country music, often times on local tv, radio, Playing and backing up local stars like Anny Marie, and many others. Boy at that time in my life I thought I had finally made it as a music entertainer, but all good thing do come to an end.
Moved on down the road to Windsor ON. Other then being a professional truck driver, of some sort, I was always playing. I began to play rock & blues again, mostly because that was the music and jobs that where available. I played my drums with many local bands, Crawdad was one, Thank you Jim, Mike, Bob, Danny. C.R. and the Riders, was another country band, we toured from Windsor ON. to Hearst ON. and everywhere in between, Thanks, Cam, and especially Rene, I hope yer playin Bass in heaven. I then ran into a world class drummer, who taught me more about this music business then anyone else, equal to my father, he instructed me the show must always go on, you are a professional, and you are here to do your job, so go and do your best. Thanks Big John, and all the blues pickers and players. Ya even you Stu ! I decided it was time to see how God and I where doing so I found a church, and they had a wonderful sound and through some time practising and commitment to the church, I found myself on stage playing for all the folks, you can put a person on a stage, with 5000 people in the audience, cheering and clapping, and it still won't equal the feeling you get when you know you are playing for God and all his angels. At Windsor Christian Fellowship, I was in the music ministry for 5 or 6 years, and had the opportunity to play with some of the most talented musicians I had ever met, and the opertunity to go back to jail, as a visitor with the band, and told my story to many inmates ,and got one of my prayers answered, to go to where I came from, and help others as I had been helped. Thanks to Brian, and all at WCF. Since WCF I have managed to continue to practice and play with allot of Country Bands, And resently find myself in a family band, Hooked on Country, and playing all around Windsor & Essex-County, we even had the wonderful opportunity to play the Biggest event around Windsor, Last year at the Tecumseh Corn Festival, we had a great time, Thanks, Rodger,& Knights of Columbus. and now, with the help of my band, my spiritual parents, and many off you, we have created this site so you also can, have a place to go and talk, discuss, and reminisce, find out who is playing where, and doing what, Thank you all, Hoss Cartwheel (Allan Boyd)

I play guitar and bass, sing and harmonize, our band is a 3 piece called Badmoustache.
we play quite a bit of variety, although, I love the old Merle, Willie, Waylon, Buck, J. R. Cash and George the best to name a few. The newer artist I like to mention are Brad Paisley, Garth, Rodney Atkins, Tracy Bird, so many to chose from.

Now if you come see us play, expect some oldies mixed with southern rock and a bit of comedy.
Got to be fun, that is the reason I look forward to every gig, FUN FUN FUN.

The Demelo Brothers is a five member band stationed out of Leamington Ontario. John and Sam Demelo, the two brothers, are the heart and soul of the band. John with strong lead vocals and rythm guitar is complimented by Sams harmonies and dynamic lead guitar. Chatam members are Rene Brosseau on steel and slide guitars, and Chris St Pierre on drums. Rene, an ArvinMeritor, comes from a 4 year stint with Shania Live, a Shania Twain Tribute out of Windsor. Performing from Windsor to Quebec, Montreal and Massachusettes. Rene joined the Demelos in 2004. He joined the Demelos cause he missed the traditional side of country music which is being fullfilld playing with the Demelo Brothers. In 2005 Chris , a Bell Mobility Representative, comes from performing with local musicians since a very early age, most recently being with Cros Country, a Popular country band from the Chatam area. Bill McKenzie, on bass brings a unique flavor to the band with his rock, blues and bluegrass background. Bill is a past member of The Hitmen a popular rock band out of Windsor. The Demelo Brothers are very popular in the Windsor - Essex area with their fan base ranging from as young as 20 and up. They are currently workinf on a CD project thanks to the outcome of being 2nd place winners, out of 30 bands, in the BX93 Country Roads Contest held this past summer in London , Ontario. The Demelo Brothers have also opened for the country - rock act The Roadhammers which is made up of Jason McCoy, Canadian Country Male Vocalist of the Year, and a few of his friends who received the award for Canadian Country Group of the Year.

The Music

We all grew up in different musical circles, but our dedication has drawn us to Country Music, and the pure raw passion that is required not only to plat it, but pass the emotion to the audience.

The Band

Based out of Windsor Essex- County in Ontario Canada. Mike. Marion, Gail, and Ron are CRAZY HEART. Although we only been operating for about a year, collectively, we have about 100 years of professional stage experience.

March 17/2008 Knights of Columbus - McGregor St Patty's Day (more info to follow, but I'll warn you now, there is a fiddle involved! Green earplus for all.)
